Uprotecting a program variant

Program variants can be protected in order to avoid unauthorized users from changing them. E.g. Variants are protected if they are part of a batch scheduling process that needs for them to remain consistent in order to maintain the integrity of the executing batch job. 
Protecting a Variant
The protected variant can only been changed by the user that protected the variant.
Should the need arise to maintain the variant but the user is unavailable to do so then you can perform the following steps:
  • Execute report RSVARENT, “Cancel Variant Protection” enter the appropriate program and variant, as shown below, and execute.
  •  The result is that the variant is now no longer protected as shown below.
