Rev-Trac Case Study: NGA Human Resources

AT A GLANCE: The Challenge

NGA Human Resources is an HR & Payroll Outsourcing leader with over 1000 Cloud & ERP implementations, including 20% of Fortune Global 500 companies whose expectations are 100% accuracy and compliance. NGA HR needed controls and processes for their SAP HCM systems that would prevent changes from being initiated but not reaching production, manage deployments, ensure process enforcement and sequencing, and eliminate the excessive reliance on manual intervention.

The Solution

Using Rev-Trac’s process enforcement capabilities, NGA HR was able to customize and configure their change control processes to ensure segregation of duties, documentation of mandatory test results, and compliance that any change made in a landscape is tied to an approver. NGA achieved the level of compliance and control that helped the company to grow globally and maintain the reliability, control and compliance their customers have come to expect.

Revelation Software Concepts Announces First Major Enhancement to Rev-Trac 7

SPS01 strengthens Release Management Workbench, expands support for SAP S/4 HANA,
and deepens integration with the Salt custom code database

Melbourne, AU - November 15, 2016Revelation Software Concepts Pty Ltd (RSC), a pioneer and market leader in simplifying SAP change control, today announced the release of their first major enhancement (SPS01) to version 7 of their flagship SAP change control automation software, Rev-Trac. The SPS01 update includes many features that strengthen Rev-Trac 7’s Release Management Workbench, supports all aspects of SAP S/4 HANA change management and further leverages the custom code database of RSC’s Salt SAP change intelligence software.
“This service pack provides important foundational improvements to Rev-Trac’s popular Release Management Workbench, but it’s Rev-Trac’s expanded integration with Salt’s custom code database that excites our Rev-Trac customers,” said David Drake, RSC Founder and CEO.
“The current release introduces Peripheral Object Dependency Checking and includes API integration points for further Salt and Rev-Trac Java integrated enhancements we’ll make available in the foreseeable future.”

Highlights include:

  1.  Updates to the Release Management Workbench focus specifically on release and change status synchronization, and adds the capability of synchronizing any request type including non-SAP requests.
  2. Request level explicit dependencies will allow for an organization to define the sequence of migration for entire Rev-Trac change requests, treating each of their subordinate transports as a group that can be sequentially controlled.
  3. Source-specific cloning allows a single request to manage the replication and retrofit of changes to multiple applications, using a single Rev-Trac clone request.
  4. SPS01 expands Rev-Trac’s SAP S/4 HANA support by including both native and non-native (non-ABAP) changes.
  5. As the first in a series of Rev-Trac features improving the integrity of changes delivered across multiple complex or hybrid SAP landscapes, the new Peripheral Object Dependency Check, or POD Check, helps teams avoid problematical outcomes from moving changes or releases forward without required dependent object versions.

Case Study: International Gaming Technology (IGT) - SAP ABAP

Terry Barker, Senior SAP Developer at IGT, the global leaders in gaming, shares how his use of Salt SAP change intelligence software has saved his company time and money in multiple areas.

"My team and I swear by Code Ferret, Salt’s code search application, and use it several times a day. It’s simply the best and quickest code search tool I have ever found for ABAP and SAP systems."

Highlights:

  • Decreased time to compare object versions by 95.5%, a total savings of $15,472.50 plus the value of the 200 hours of new development that can now be pursued
  • In seconds, searches objects on a criteria such as "objects by a certain author” or a specific development set
  • Instantly sees all transports in flight and not in Production
  • Easily creates a monthly report to “police” the synchronization of IGT’s Development, QA, and Production environments

Multi Lane Approach to Continuous Delivery

SAP Change and Release Management: A Multi Lane Approach to Continuous Delivery

When SAP change release strategies fail to meet business-side expectations, organizations can lose confidence in the “large project” approach. This whitepaper discusses the considerations required when facilitating a move towards a more agile, flexible ‘continuous delivery’ strategy by using a multi-lane approach to managing SAP changes.

  • The common large-project problems and the barriers to multi-lane delivery
  • The key to a successful multi-lane delivery strategy
  • The necessity for ‘rules of the road’ and how to enforce these processes and governance using Rev-Trac as an ‘enforcement’ agent
